The Hungarian Biodiversity Platform is a national forum of scientists and policy-makers to ensure that research contributes to halting the loss of biodiversity by 2010 according to the Göteborg Council Presidency Conclusions.
As a national platform of the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy (EPBRS), the main objective of the Hungarian Biodiversity Platform (HBP) is to promote important researches and decisions that contribute to the conservation, restoration, sustainable use of components of biological diversity, and to reduce biodiversity loss. The objectives of Hungarian Biodiversity Platform for the comming years are:
- to become the most significant forum relating to biological diversity in Hungary,
- to become a well-known and recognized organisation among scientists and the whole society,
- to influence decision-making,
- to facilitate the work of the Hungarian representatives of the European Council, Environment Working Group and the convention on Biological Diversity.
